Instead of showing the sum of all class levels, have it show effective levels? It makes little sense to see (54) and (51), for example, when the characters in question were effective 31 and 35 respectively. The same goes for your own level. (33) and (38) means a lot less than effective 22 and 25.
I assume (perhaps wrongly) that it can't be done retroactively. If so, you could add "Eff." before any new justifications.

Personally, I like the idea. I've always thought that it'd be so much easier just seeing the effective.

It's all in how you look at it.
The total levels are given because that is what is most relevant to the multikilling code, which imposes penalties on a killer that kills a victim multiple times at the victim's same level within a period of time. Total level is what the code needs to do the multikill check, so that is what is stored.
I understand that as a history for tracking a victim's unavenged attacks, showing effective level may be more interesting. I also agree that we tend to think more in terms of effective levels.
While it is possible to add effective level, the code would have to be able to read and write both the current format and the proposed format. I don't see myself working on this anytime soon. Perhaps Schwartz or Natilena will adopt the idea, if either of them feel it is a worthwhile and time effective improvement to the game.

Thanks for the explanation. Makes a lot of sense. However, if you're not able to see your killer throughout the attack, it just says "someone". (It used to, at least.) If the underlying data said "someone", it would also break the multikilling code, so presumably two variables exist for the attacker's name: a fully-qualified name and a displayed name (or at least a visibility status). In the same way, levels could also be stored in two variables. I have no idea how hard that would be to add, but would greatly appreciate Schwartz or Natilena adopting the idea. *puppydog eyes*

In addition to who just I think it would make sense that you get a just on everyone who attacked you while you are killed. So if you were killed by a group of 3, you get 3 justs since all of them contributed to your death. Don't know if that brings lots of issues with coding, but it might be quite nice...
