So Pein wrote something in another thread that got me thinking:

This thread's not really suggesting UA's get anything - focus here's on followings, whether or not we need to give incentive to join them (or just spice them up a bit), and if so, what sort of things we could add in to give a little more flavour. Any thoughts on that front?

I wanted to get folks' thoughts - in a positive, roundtable discussion - on what can be done to help incentivize joining followings, and/or adding flavor.

* FLIs: Is there anything I can do, from a RP sense / questy sense / etc to support you in your role?

* Followers: Can I help you with some RP trigs? Storyline starting points? Questy things?

* Non-followers: What would help motivate you / intrigue you enough to join a following?

Or, is this really not anything that a god+ can have any positive effect on?

Just curious,

I would think a god+ could have a lot of positive effects on followings and followers from a RP perspective. I might suggest keeping it down to RP stuff and maybe even then it should be upon request. I'm just thinking the role of god+ is often administrative and you might not want to seem like you favor any particular sect or disfavor any particular mortal.

God+ is *often* administrative, but I thought Cordir's role was partially administrative and partially quest-running and stuff like that -ways to spice up the game. I could be wrong, but that's what I thought.

I personally believe that an interactive god+ staff makes the mud more attractive. Running various quests and coordinating trivia and activities is fantastic.

As far as followings go, I believe that should lie with the FLI. The FLI should be looking for ways to entertain their following and role play with their followers. Run following quests, grant restrings or upgraded items, etc. If they need help, they should reach out to those with the expertise in that area. People should not just want to join a following for 'protection' or 'because someone told them' but because the following idea is intriguing and they feel that they can mesh with those within the following.

Just my 2 cents:) I will say, that I am intrigued at what makes people want to join a following as Cordir asked.
