[ 1] Wylin: my retirement
Sat Jun 3 04:01:20 2006
To: god+
I am greatly displeased at my new position of retired fli.
I understand I didn't log in for approx 2 months but I still held ratings on
both 60 and 90 day activity and immortal visibility rankings.
I had understood that was the rule and assumed I would hold same measures in my absense.
for activity rank today, as a retired and the first time I have found out I was retired,
I am ranked 54th most active in the last 60 days, and 32ns most active in 90 days.
as far as immortal visibility rank goes(which I prided myself in) I am ranked 8th in 60 day
and #1 in 90 day.
I think that means in the last 90 days, or 3 months, I was/am the most visable active FLI in tfc
I had no intention on quitting. I did not give up. I still love tfc.
what can I do to fix this?

[ 4] Tynian: Wylin: Your retirement

Now, see, Wylin, you've already started off on the wrong foot. You
don't log in for OVER 6 WEEKS, and yet manage to blast your displeasure
at me for being retired?? Uh, no.
Yes, you are still on the activity rankings, and yes, I have been using
that as a guideline. The overall assumption, however, is that the
Immortal has not disappeared without neither login nor word of
extinuating circumstances for a month or more! That is following
abandonment.
I did not wish to retire you. But you quit logging in. I even gave you
extra time, to no avail.
You were one of the most active FLIs when you were playing. I hated
losing you. But I lost you when you quit playing. And so did your
followers. They are better served by Immortals that still play. You
failed to communicate a reason for your absense to me or any other god+,
nor a warning that you'd be gone. I am disappointed by your lack of
consideration, and mighty annoyed at the tone you have assumed upon
being retired for abandoning your following.

Did any of my followers actually follow me because they believed in my goals and viewpoints even if I was not there for a while?
I followed Zarous at one point, after 3.x started I think I spend 6-8 months without seeing him.. my char didn't leave him because my character loved adventure and what adventure was about.
Having been forced out of adventure said character went to Unity. Robert was a great guy. until he stopped logging in... I loved Unity and all the followers, until the day I was forcefully ripped from it because Robert had been retired.
Wylin, oh Wylin. The beer doesn't fade the memory does it.. all it can do is dull the ache. I spoke with Avarice today. He had no idea I was a level 29 30 30 Ordained Warric like he is currently. My old Foe was Vex. When I was little my little newbie friend and myself used to go kick his ass out of Molotov so we could XP. Then he started to play like 21 hours a day (for real :O) and he turn around and because one of the most powerfull players the game has ever seen. Orpik has only a part of what Vex and company had.
I used to kill myself, let my Wisdom buddys(yeah, I was Plato's Ordain, and he was awesome) get my corpse, then I'd go try to suicide in the best places.. I'd try to get into the gauntlet of Dream Realm, or the 4th floor masters, jesters keep, demon realm. The point was to lay my corpse in as many hard to get to places as I could and to die to mobs so I would lose xp and not level to 30 30 30.
I'll try to bring back other stories. If you were an active forum reader before, you know I was like thousands of posts ahead of anyone.. but that might be because I used to reply to Neodis.. but who knows, his name might be a dirty word now.

You know I'll miss you, Wylin. You're a great guy, a good friend and you have an iron liver.
Please stay on the forums, at least. I'm sorry to hear about your retirement.

Well, re-posting a note directed to Wylin and god+ to the forum obviously destroys any trust I have for Wylin's player. This precludes the possibility of him becoming more active and eventually coming out of retirement to again provide the players an entertaining and fun following option. Since my ability to trust an Immortal is a prerequisite for being an Immortal, Wylin has been deleted.
Sometimes, my job involves making tough decisions. Sometimes, what is in the best interests of a given Immortal is not necessarily in the best interests of the game. Such is the case with Wylin. At the time I retired him, he had not logged in at all over the past 6 weeks. Past practice has been to retire FLIs that have not logged in for over a month (provided they had not made prior arrangements). I don't like having to retire Immortals. But I have to act at some point, and after 6 weeks, there was no telling whether he was even coming back, much less when.
I don't have the luxury of always doing the popular thing, or making everyone happy. I try to act in the best interests of the game, though, and at the end of the day, that's what is important.

You can try to justify your actions however you like, but even though I didn't log in. I had previously been told the "stay on the activity ranks" rule. Becides this, at least 40 people who do or have played TFC are on my msn messanger. Had an FYI been posted as has been done in the past about me nearing retirement and/or free reforms my followers or others would have contacted me.
Obviously I didn't post your god+ private message because I care what you do.
