A ghost wired to a spine.

As dawn climbs the horizion,
A beautiful reminder of her domain.
The vampire seizes the shadows,
His realm an open vein.

In summer's growth I thrive.
The offered chance of rebirth fulfilled
Calm after chaos arrives.

A memory blooms in her thoughts,
First delighted, then dismayed.
The scribe is gone from her senses,
Path fulfilled; Path betrayed

Descent both new and remembered,
The gaping pit makes its claim.
The winds of N'Kai are wailing,
A greeting, a challenge - my name.

He slips to the black and forbidden,
Lost to her world and their dream.
In darkness forgotten by dawn,
His aspect a silent scream.

So that is the law of the branch, the path which cannot be denied.
And no matter the root shared between them, the split of the branch will divide.
As the winter is followed by springtime, so are each of us bound,
To the fork in the road and the shadows, where the other has never been found.
