I got a kick out of rereading this thread because i know eathor used this lyrical to explore the cursed circus and did so completely without being attacked while other PCs were in the zone getting beat down, which means he coulda looted them for free if the chance came up... stil against this lyrical because of situations like that

I was going to make fun of you, but nothing good came to mind. *sigh*

Please don't make fun of Kylor. I would just have to edit the post, and we don't want that, do we?

I'm with Morgaine on this one. From what I can see this is an easily abused lyrical, but that's just on the surface.

What's the name of the lyrical that has these effects?

I was going to sit on the sidelines, but the voice of reason seems to be on vacation. This whole topic is hogwash. First you complain that bards can go wherever they want without being attacked by mobs or PCs. "It's just not fair!!", you say. But when you get the option to have the same effects on yourself by simply attacking the bard (whom you think is abusing this incredible power), suddenly you complain that you DON'T want the effects. Well, which is it? If you want to have the power of the bard you could have it, but you don't want it because it makes it so you can't do what you want to. But then you don't want the bard to have it either. The bard has the same benefits and drawbacks as you would have if you choose. Was the spam previously a problem? Yes. Does it appear to be better now? Yes. Is there a benefit to having this ability on yourself? Yes. Is there an equal and opposite drawback? Yes. Does everyone have equal access to it? Yes. Quit whining? Please.

I sorta see Kylor's point in that particular instance - it's kinda lame that Eathor could have followed the group that was doing the zone without any fear of reprisal while the lyrical was active. That being said I'm fairly certain this lyrical fades over time so the longer he stuck around the better the chances are that it would fade while he was in a particularly nasty spot. To say there was *no* risk for Eathor is misunderstanding the situation. I'd still like to see a way to dispel or otherwise remove the effect from the bard, so there could be SOME kind of counter to the strategy of shadowing a group that is running a large zone like Circus in order to pick up corpses if one of the group dies.

Actually Ink, you're misunderstanding or misreading this entire situation. I have been against this power from the jump. Avarice, we only know that when a PC hits the peaceful bard then that PC becomes peaceful and the effect on that PC wear of in time. At this point I'm not sure how it works for the bard himself but I believe it is alot different duration wise.

No, I understand what you are saying. What *I* am saying, is if you don't like the bard following you around the zone then ATTACK THE BARD and you get the same benefits as the bard has. The playing field is leveled. Ta-da! If you don't want the playing field to be leveled, then you are obviously saying you think you are better off without the ability the bard has, and therefore you acknowledge that the bard is at the DISADVANTAGE in that situation. Disadvantage = weaker. Weaker = not as good. Not as good = not overpowered. Not overpowered = no problems because who would want that anyway.

The only problem i have with this lyrical, is that it works when you are in a safe room and cast an aggressive spell. I don't think that should happen... people use area spells to check who is in the safe room with them... then end up not being able to assist in any attack or attack for a long time... but I don't dislike the lyrical itself, i just don't think it should work in safe rooms also.

Having just had this Lyrical, I've got a single question about it:

Can the Bard with the Lyrical be haunted? Ghosts can drain the user.
