Stalled New Area

I have a half-written new area that I don't think I can finish. Is there anything I can do with it to contribute to TFC, maybe if someone else wants to take it over?

It has about 30 rooms written, basically the entrance part to the main part which admittedly may be more work. The area has an extensive narrative already which the new writer could draw from if they so wished. I think the story is pretty damn cool...but what parent says their kid is ugly?

BECAUSE of Kaern's descriptive writing style, I'd like to suggest Cordir, Me, or perhaps Corri for finishing the zone (if you can nail any of us to it). The others I can think of offhand are all retired (Bliss, Madman, etc..)

No offense Kylor, I just haven't seen how you write yet. Not saying you're NOT capable, but as much time as I've spent in Mystic woods, and seeing how much Kaern does in description, little details, puzzles, and story development to an area, I'm just saying we need someone who is SOLID at those skills, or it might fizzle out on the remaining section from what the entrance gets you thinking...

Not having a single clue about what Kaern is writing, I should probly keep my mouth shut, but I wanted to point that out.

It's a shame you're not around Kaern, I miss ya! (Do get ahold of me when you have a minute too, I need to talk to you about some of the things you did in Mystic so I can try to do something similar in other projects I want to write, or are working on)

Why thank you bels but funnily enough tamar and toku have agreed that my zone was the best zone they've ever read and I'm glad to point out that it includes, hints, riddles, special coding, creative writing, detailed descriptions, hidden details that still haven't been seen to this day and many other things that took a long time to do. Wanna know why my zone isn't credited with these things? Few people have the time to investigate them because they are usually busy dying... But since those actually responsible for TFC's zones have already given me a pat on the back, I guess it doesn't matter that you have over looked all my work. Wish is, in my opinion, the right person to write the zone because he has already shown (in my opinion) that he is masterful at this. My experience however is that our opinions don't matter and the god+ team will do what they think is best.

I like the zone because of the riddles and such. I have not spent a lot of time reading it as I never went there as a mortal and since it was already installed before I got to God level, I really did not have much reason to look at it. I believe it was installed when Nayr was the area coordinator. The style guide was updated after I became the area coordinator, so of course Mystic would not be held to the current standard we are striving for.

Mystic Woods is a cool area for all the reason Tokugawa has mentioned.

Cursed Circus is a cool area for groups of people ... groups of eff 50 players

I've worked my way through mystic Woods as a mortal... its a challenge

My mortals *if were I to admit to any* would not do well at the Circus ....

Kylor could do it ... altho he might find it more diffuclt than he currently realizes ... no insult meant

Wish is a very good choice for the stalled area ... Altho if kaern was available for advice and suggestions ..that would be even better with the combined talents of both ... it would be a great area!

I LOVE Mystic Woods, it's such a fun and different zone. I think we should have more like it...

I don't have anything nice to say so I'll leave it simple. If Kaern is around to finish it or decide who he would like to finish it I think that would be the best option.

Mystic is one of the best zones on TFC. It is phenomenally written (during the era of a different style guide) and has more depth than Kylor must realize.

Kaern, if you want, send me the files and then I can assign it to someone. If you have a preference for someone who expressed interest in finishing it, let me know that as well.

Honestly, I don't think I'm as good a writer as Kaern is. If he is NOT willing to take the zone back, however, I would be willing to do my best at finishing it. It will be a poorer final result, however, than it would be left in his hands.

And I agree with Ink: Mystic Woods is a phenomenally well written zone, and is one of the best on the mud. The way that it interweaves with TFC's history and places is a testament to the mud's longevity and the author's skill.
