Thread: Lesser Ideas

    Default Lesser Ideas

I'm trying to keep small stuff out of the Great Ideas forum. I'll add the random lesser ideas that come to me to this thread. Feel free to add your own less than the Next Great Idea thoughts.

    First Lesser Idea:
New use for Pick Lock: Lock Door. If I can open a lock with nothing more than a dagger, a couple splinters, and a piece of wire, why can't I lock it as well?

yeah pick lock should also be able to relock imo

Out of curiosity, can you do that in real life?

Not with a dagger, but a couple of streetsweeper bristles I've shaped for the occasion and a bicycle spoke I've filed down do quite nicely. But yes, I can unlock and relock a door, if it's got keyholes on both sides.

The benefits of a wasted youth as a miscreant coupled with a classical education...

Cool. I personally don't see any reason why one shouldn't be able to do this.

rhysling, you know you can buy pro lock picking stuff online now right?

Yeah, but I made that set when I was like 14 or 15 and keep it for sentimental reasons, along with my old lunch card that opened some classrooms and all the lockers in my school.

But I wonder how difficult it would be to code relocking into pick lock? And how would the syntax work? "relock door"?

I would suggest simple "pick door" and it would toggle the lock/unlock setting with a *click*

I am on the fence with this one, seems plausible and at the same time unreasonable.

Not a fan of this idea - I can see why you want it as a skill though for sure :P

Another Lesser Idea. I've already got this worked out as set of aliases but I figured someone might like it to be added to the mud as a social.
Note: Some of you might have a jogging script up and this might not work well.

Simply, it's a "stumble" or "stagger" command.
    Syntax: "ss" "nn" "ee" etc.
Alias format: emote stumbles in his haste to get out of the room. ; <direction> (What I currently use)

    Social: Same command.
You: You stumble in your rush to move.
Target: Rhysling stumbles as he rushes by you.
Room: Rhysling stumbles in his rush to get out of the room.

    I've got another lesser idea:

Flag people on a Mobmastery. Just so nobody casts a "helpful" spell on them or does something to disrupt their attempt at hunting down a critter.

    Something like:

    (Mobmastery) Rhysling stands here.

that one seems like an irritant's dream flag. I can just see that one person running around casting refresh or shield on every (mobmastery) flag he comes across. A good idea in merit, but I'd prefer not to broadcast my MM's.
