Aoide's poem for the Triat

[Katrana]

Aoide was required to develop a bardic performance for the Triat for entry to the Wyld Hunt. She had to do so without her favored bardic talent...song. She developed a free-verse poem. And here you go:



Aoide says (in common), 'you see, there was a bard I saw perform once when I was younger'.

You nod.

Aoide says (in common), 'who would tell this long-winded tales and call them "poems"'.

Aoide says (in common), 'there was no rhythm, nothing to dance to, no skill'.

You laugh.

You nod.

You say, 'Is his name Kirith?'.

Aoide says (in common), 'but for my creation, I have given up song, instruments, and rhyme'.

You laugh.

Aoide laughs at you mercilessly. Hmmmmph.

You say, 'Oh wait.'.

Aoide says (in common), 'well, I have not yet had that pleasure'.

You laugh.

You nod.

Aoide says (in common), 'and this bard was too old and not as flirtatious'.

Aoide snickers softly.

You nod.

Aoide says (in common), 'but perhaps a mentor'.

You say, 'I see'.

Aoide says (in common), 'is now a good time to recite my poem?'.

You nod.

Aoide says (in common), 'my apologies then, lady and Legolas'.

Aoide says (in common), 'this will be, uh, free verse'.

Aoide blushes.

Aoide says (in common), 'In each exists a past, a present, a future:'.

Aoide says (in common), 'three nows within each soul.'.

Aoide says (in common), 'These three existences bring me here:'.

Aoide says (in common), 'birth, death, rebirth that I seek. '.

Aoide says (in common), 'In birth I was given a voice that could sing to the stars'.

Aoide says (in common), 'and a wandering heart'.

Aoide says (in common), 'and a questioning mind'.

Aoide says (in common), 'And so I left seeking. This is the first existence. Two remain.'.

Aoide says (in common), 'Many times I have died in the present, sometimes expected'.

Aoide says (in common), 'other times caught unawares, life randomly cut short'.

Aoide says (in common), 'And so I was sent change, unknown. This is the second existence. One remains.'.

Aoide says (in common), 'And so I come seeking rebirth, a direction, a home'.

Aoide says (in common), 'to travel in my soul as I wander, to guide my steps on the path'.

Aoide says (in common), 'And so I come to seal my fate with a promise:'.

Aoide says (in common), 'As I have given my voice, my instrument, my rhyme'.

Katrana listens intently.

Aoide says (in common), 'so I do pledge to seek understanding'.

Aoide says (in common), 'to run with the hunt'.

Aoide says (in common), 'to accept the pattern of my weave'.

Aoide bows deeply.

Katrana grins Wyldly.

Legolas enthusiastically cheers Aoide to victory.

You clap at her performance.

Aoide says (in common), 'see now, this is why you need some music...so people know when you're done'.

You say, 'Excellent performance dear one'.

Aoide laughs.

You say, 'I found it lovely!'.

Legolas says, 'indeed, especially rebirth!'.

Legolas grins mischievously.

You say, 'Oh of course!'.

Aoide says (in common), 'I took inspiration from the Lord Thaygar'.

You say, 'My dear, you may worship as you have fulfilled all that I asked and more.'.

Aoide says (in common), 'but I forgot to mention that at the beginning'.

Aoide blushes.

You say, 'He was the first...'.
