PK Contest

I have evidently decided to run a PK contest, even in the midst of the not so successful Labor Day Weekend quest.

If you are interested in participating, please indicate your interest on this thread, send me a PM, or post a note. You must sign up by NOON mud-time on Sunday, September 11, 2011. Pick your favorite character only (one entry per player).

The contest will be double elimination (lose twice and you're out).

If there are at least 4 interested characters in the following effective level ranges, I will set up separate bracket(s) for them:
10-19
20-29
30-39
20-39

(There won't be overlap in the actual additional brackets, if any)

The rules:

1. Seeding will be random.
2. We will do a round each week. For example, Round One will commence between Monday, September 12 and Sunday, September 18, at NOON mud-time. Round Two will commence between Monday, September 19 and Sunday, September 25 at NOON mud-time, etc. The Semi-Finals and Finals will be done in the final week.
3. The contestants must arrange a time for their match, including a god+ to officiate. If the contestants are unable to arrange a time within the week, the winner will be determined by Tynian. Factors may include the characters' 7 day activity ranking, notes agreeing on a time to meet, whether I feel a given character has acted in good faith to arrange the match, etc.
4. Contestants will have no more than 5 minutes from the time entering arena to kill their opponent. In case of a draw, the god+ will decide the match based on which contestant was the aggressor (the one that fled the least). And no, fear spell doesn't count!
5. Contestants may use whatever implements they bring with them in inventory only! No getting items out of containers. Contestants are responsible for managing their own inventory, and for storage of any unneeded items. If a contestant wants to bring his bags in with him, he can, but once he enters the arena, nothing may be taken from or put into a container. This will be enforced through the honor system. If the contestant notices illegal container use, he is responsible for doing a cmdlog of himself and his opponent, and posting a note to god+.
6. Disarming your opponent is legal. You may take your opponent's weapon during the contest if the opportunity arises, but you must return it promptly at the end of the match.
7. No other acts of theft are allowed.
8. Leaving the arena area prior to victory counts as a resignation; however, a contestant is forbidden from forcing an opponent out of the ring, such as with teleport.
9. Only contestants (and Immortals) are allowed in the arena.
10. Immortals may not interfere with contestants in any way while the contestants are in the arena. This includes spell casting or moving items between the Immortal and follower.
11. If there are any irregularities, god+ may elect to re-run a match, declare a winner, or disqualify a contestant at their sole discretion.

Overall Prizes:

• The winner of each match will receive a Cold One.
• 3rd place - Restring Voucher; 6 pack of Cold Ones
• 2nd place - 2 Restring Vouchers; 6 pack of Cold Ones; -1 off of a "bad" stat on item; notation in the Room of Records
• 1st place - 2 Restring Vouchers; 6 pack + 3 of Cold Ones; +1 stat voucher (restrictions apply); notation in the Room of Records
• Additional prizes may of course be awarded at my discretion.

In the event that there are multiple brackets, overall prizes will be determined by a single-elimination "run off" bracket that contains the top two finishers of the smaller brackets.

I'd like to participate in quests Tynian, and I think they're great you organise these. For last weekend's quest, I have to say that doing 6 runs of 30 minutes within the course of 3 days was a bit too short notice for me. If the quest was extended to next weekend, I would have had more time do it. This is why I decided not to participate.

I will participate in the upcoming quest, although I'm probably not strong enough

I recently spoke to Katrana and Isolas. Unfortunately, they feel that neither
of their respective groups of followers are up to the challenge of a
PK contest. They both wanted to wish good luck to Boromir's and Rufus'
followers, and to any unaligned souls that may enter.

P.S. The note about Katrana and Isolas saying their followers couldn't handle

In re-reading my rules post, I didn't make clear that the listed prizes are "overall" prizes. I wasn't planning on giving these same prizes to each seperate bracket.
I will set up a "combined" single-elimination bracket that includes the top two finishers from each individual bracket to determine who wins 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes overall.

Also, if you're in a lower level bracket, make sure that you don't exceed the level range for the bracket, or you're out of the contest. Reason being, once I generate the brackets, there's no room from hopping from one bracket to the other.

I evidently didn't tell the contestants not to use equipment damaging spells, so I guess I will spend some part of tomorrow cleaning up that mess.

Anyway, Ink and Rosemark ran out the clock. Ink wins by virtue of Rosemark fleeing more.
