    Default Giants' innate ability

Giants have an innate ability to see magical items. Now, this is an interesting idea. However, the way it's implemented now, it's rather a hindrance than an actual benefit. I've levelled up a character quite a bit and he still can't see the different between weak magic and moderate magic (let alone potent, powerful, and artifact). I have also checked with a 30/30 warrior/shaman who can't even see Powerful or Artifact Magic! My non-Giant shaman just casts detect magic (without pump) and CAN see these magical flags. This makes no sense to me. The only way to get around this, is wearing a TS amulet (casting detect magic has no effect, as you already have this on you)! In other words: having the ability to see magic as a Giant is really a disadvantage that you'd rather not have.

I still think it's an interesting concept, but the power should really be increased for it not to be a hindrance. I say: able to see weak magic at effective level 6, moderate magic at eff. level 7, potent at eff. level 8, powerful at eff. level 9, and artifact at eff. level 10.

    Thoughts?

I like this idea. Giants are so few and far between, and I don't see how this would shift the balance of the world one way or the other.

Might actually increase the giant population a little, if you think about it. That'd be a great incentive to some.

    I am so confused now.

I think*you'd have to nerf shamans a bit because giant-kin shamans would have a balance-shifting additional 5 mana per 50 ticks through not having to re-cast detect magic...

Not sure where the asterisk came from there. Seems to have been auto-inserted by my iPhone. I wonder if it feels the concept of me "thinking" needs some kind of disclaimer...

I think that's a good idea as well - I've always had a fondness for Giants and the Detect Magic ability was a neat ability in theory, but frustrating in practice.
