equipment rescaling?

How about a wandering mob that can rescale equipment....
We could change metals to leathers, repair gear to the fullest (maybe not be so afraid of those blasting mobs) enhance ac... etc....

heres some theoretical prices.


Rescale to the same material. (an enhanced repair) 100k per item
(or possibly the price of that given material)

Rescale to Adamantite/dragonscale 1mil

rescale mithril/elven chain 925k

rescale titanium 900k

rescale Iron/steel/ studded leather 650k

rescale reinforced leather, chain mail 575k

rescale low ac leathers i.e. padded cloth, 500k


I just made these up on the whim, an actual price would be determined... But i think you can get the idea. Maybe there would be an extra charge to change a metal to a leather, like + 250k or something.

I just think this would be neat.

further, maybe he could change the damagetype of a weapon, i.e. sharpen to a piercer, dull to a blunt for a price of 1mil, possibly even instate and remove item flags like glowing, (not inventory flag) anti evil, etc....

back to the popping of item name flags to put some variety into the game... maybe this guy would also have a list of flags you could purchase to change the name of the item... Im still working on that list... I think I lost the first draft

I don't know how I feel about this. On one hand, it sounds kinda cool, on the other, it takes away from the thrill of finding or otherwise obtaining rare items.

I like it - it helps to give value to gold. Id like to see the costs much higher though - would make this kind of thing as rare as finding one of those rare Tynian is talking about.

If it is put in to the game I think the prices should be much much closer to that of a simple at least.

They are fairly close, but Cadee's right. I still like mine and Morg's original idea....((or was it mine and Dauthi's? The group of us had 4 or 5 really cool ideas for eq and spending gold....))

Bottom line....gold needs a use other than just a simple ring...
