Default How did you find TFC?

I was curious to know how most people found TFC. Poll follows.

I don't remember exactly. The Mud Connector was something I was using. I recall playing Rivers of MUD for a while, but not being grabbed by it. I tried a few others, among them TFC. I've never looked back.

My ex-hubby was friends with two people (the old Regul and Frostflower) that played on TFC, which is how I was introduced to it. I was addicted immediately! I remember a time where you couldn't get me away from the computer no matter what you tried. Heh. At least now I don't have any issues doing other things, when they come up.

I heard about it in my RP chat around 97, but never checked it out.

However Dazzle (warric of Fate) got me and Sacaras started at about the same time, while people like Lictilon and Modred had gotten Dazzle started, and those two in turn had been started by Craige.

Me, I got about 5 or 6 people started, most notably Skie and Novis.

Mind you some of these people still play today, under other names, others stopped long ago. I just used the original char names I could remember, because, well, it's more fun hahahaha

    Default How I started

I went to visit Coleman in Florida in the early 1990s. Rather than sit by the pool we were on his old Packard Bell computer (with a blazing fast 14.4 modem) starting my MUD career.

    Suddenly I feel very old.

I was browsing my then ISPs web page. Which happened to be Primenet.

At the bottom of the page they had a link to this thing called a mud. Which happened to be TFC. A link to the old Primenet page is below if you want to see it.

    Lankor
and in turn many others followed and left, stemming from Nightmare are todays peeps
    Loco
    Anavrin
    Rincewind
    Seraph
    Vindal
    Tay
    Dustyn
    Nunzio

and many more that I can't recall, anyone who has played in this town got started either by or through Nightmare. and yes Tay the guy who started you. We started him!

In a continuation high-school :P I'd always see 3 people typing like madmen. (Keldor, Witchblade, and another I wont name) they were all into different followings; conclave, arcanes, WarD you name it) I personally knew 1 one of'em and asked him wth he was doing (everyone thought they were hacking or something) lol. But yeah, I tried it and got hooked, helped me mess up in school even more than i already had. good times!

My boss (AKA Cerebus) got me into TFC actually. Kept hearing them mentioning TFC and all and I finally asked what it was. Hadn't tried online gaming, though I had done plenty of the RL kind.

Few weeks later I was down with the flu, up late, couldnt sleep, figured I would give it a shot.

Played obsessively for about 4-5 years or so, then RL intruded in a big way. Just now making my return.

    Primenet here too!

I had originally played some text-based single-person puzzle-type game (on a terminal connected to a VAX) that I'd never been able to find again, so I thought that maybe a MUD would be similar. Turns out a MUD was better

A friend, Garland, got myself and another person (Dart) interested in our second year of college. Dart played for awhile, then kinda faded away. I'm been in and out since.

I used to be on a BBS called Cyberspace,
believe it or not. I played MajorMUD there
before I was introduced to TFC.

Uhm. I beg to argue Damian, but Garland just got Dart into it AGAIN while he was in college.

I helped Dart start playing with Talyn back in Highschool.

My apologies Bel, I never knew Dart had played any earlier characters. I started my first character about the time Dart was made.

I think its the same story... a friend of mine was introduced by a friend of his.... we were up late one night when he created a little warrior and was handed an ancient two handed sword.... he crushed mobs for 2 hours and then miraculously jumped from level 4 to level 7 if i remember correctly (back when the two hour rule was in effect)... It seemed relly cool so after his two hours i made a little ranger, to be different... I wasn't handed any cool weapons and my experience with a couple wooden training swords was quite difficult, yet entertaining none the less.
